Why does my internet disconnect when I'm on the phone now?
We recently added a wirelss router to our modem so that I can use my laptop around the house, as well as having the desk top hooked up to the internet as well.
Since we've done that, everytime anyone uses the home phone the internet disconnects!
We have a inline-filter/spliter between the phone jack and the modem, (we were told to use this when we first got broadband).
We only have one phone line in the house, so we can't use one for the phone and another for the broadband.
Our modem is a NB6Plus4 and the wireless router is NB600W
We're in Australia (if that makes any difference at all!)

No it's not dial-up, it's broadband......

I do know the difference, prior to adding the wireless router we had NO problems with the phone etc
Your phone and wireless access point are working in a similar frequency.
Easiest thing to do is change the channel on your router (default is 6), to the other end of the spectrum....either 1 or 11. Then, see if that makes you disconnect. If so, you need to go get another phone that's out of the 2.4Ghz range....like a 9Ghz.
Usually, changing channels works for this sort of issue.
And make sure on your filter you have the router and phone in the appropriate jacks...they are marked, and it DOES make a difference. You should be able to use both when correctly connected and set on different Mhz bands.
Sorry that the other guys here seem to think "modem" only applies to dialup. DSL also uses "modems" 
It's a DLS modem guys...this is not "dialup".
